in the production of my music video, i decided to create a low budget style of capturing a real live performance. i did this by filming a local unsigned band when they played at a local venue in my hometown. due to the band being unsigned it was almost like a blank canvas so things like costume and props would be to my preference and also correlated with the genre. there are several conventions of the indie rock genre which make it easy to identify. i found this out through my research and planning section of the course. the convention of indie rock varies from band to band. however there are subtle similarities which allows them to be in this genre group. this can again vary from choice of clothing, location of music videos, props that they may have in their music videos and whether they go for the 'rebel' brand image. for my costume design i asked the band if they would wear wacky/out of the ordinary clothing for the gig. this gave them an edgy type of look. this is a convention of the rock genre to portray to the audience that they don't conform with normal trends and styles.
for example, the lead guitarist in her burden was wearing a leopard print fluffy coat with sunglasses.
i believe my product conforms with the conventions of my chosen genre due to the low key lighting seen in my production.
